About

Dr Schwartz is an independent evidence-review desk for health. We do not break news and we do not run a clinic. We take the claims people repeat, in headlines, in supplement aisles, at kitchen tables, and we weigh the research behind them, plainly.

The two marks

Everything we publish carries two signals, kept deliberately apart. Certainty, how confident the evidence lets us be, on four levels from high to very low. And effect, the direction and rough size of what was actually measured. "Strong evidence of a small effect" and "weak evidence of a big one" are different things, and we never let them blur. When the honest answer is we don't know, we say so.

Our standards

Evidence first. We favour the top of the evidence pyramid, systematic reviews and meta-analyses of well-conducted trials, over single studies, and single studies over anecdote. Where the science is genuinely contested, we report the disagreement rather than manufacture a consensus.

Provenance. Every review shows when it was last reviewed, and the type of evidence it rests on. We correct errors openly.

Not medical advice. Our summaries are written for the general reader. They are not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a substitute for a clinician who knows your history. For anything that concerns your own health, talk to a professional.

On our use of AI. Dr Schwartz is produced with the help of AI tools for research and drafting. Editorial judgement, how the evidence is weighed and graded, and responsibility for what we publish rest with the editors. We disclose this because calibrated trust is the entire product.
